Housed in the historic Oil and Gas Building, the interior design is a counterpoint to the black and white Mid Century Modern modular grid of the building’s exterior. Vibrant and saturated colors were used as a representation of the cultural costuming of Carnival celebrations. And, as a nod to the city’s French heritage, the design team referenced the French Modernist movement in the design of the furniture and seating, utilizing flowing curves and sinuous tubular framework in an effort to soften the rigid nature of the building architecture.
